Frestems Develops Production Flexibility with the Help of an EU-Funded Project

The purpose of the “Flexible Manufacturing System” project is to systematically develop product manufacturing to be more agile. Flexibility enables fast and high-quality product deliveries to customers, while also increasing production efficiency and making the work more meaningful for employees. The project is partially funded by the EU.

Frestems’ field of operation – manufacturing ambulance systems that support comprehensive security – requires the ability to grow and develop rapidly as the world becomes increasingly unstable. As a result of the project, a carefully planned production system will be created, which can be easily scaled as the company grows.

The planned production system includes an FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System) capable of reliably producing product components with zero setup time and feeding parts directly to assembly lines; the renewal of the ERP system to meet the requirements of the production system; and high-bay storage systems that allow more efficient use of production space, improved picking control, and more rational storage of parts and components.

The aim of the project is to ensure that the company’s market success is not limited by production capacity. Success in international markets requires continuous improvement and the ability to deliver high-quality, intelligently designed and manufactured products to customers without delay.

The project is co-funded by the European Union.

Project duration: 6/2023 - 6/2025

Funding: Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021–2027 / EU Regional and Structural Policy Programme, European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
